My journey into performance hasn’t been straightforward. It has been shaped by challenge, resilience, and a determination to keep moving forward, even when things felt uncertain.
From the very beginning, my life started differently. I was born prematurely and spent my first weeks in neonatal intensive care. As I grew up, I experienced early developmental delays, including learning to walk later than expected, alongside ongoing medical challenges such as sleep apnea and sight issues. I also navigated learning difficulties including dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as suspected traits of ADHD and autism. From a young age, I had to learn how to adapt, persevere, and find my own way through situations that did not always come easily.
My educational journey began across a number of early years settings, including Ravens Thorpe Nursery School, Just Learning Nursery, Busy Bees, Fern Dean Nursery, and Abbey Federation. I then attended Polam Hall Woodard Academy Trust for both primary and secondary school, before progressing to Darlington College where I studied a National BTEC Foundation Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services. I am now studying BA (Hons) Musical Theatre at York St John University, continuing to develop both as a performer and as an individual.
Alongside education, my life at home brought its own responsibilities. From the age of seven, I became a carer for my dad following his cancer diagnosis. Balancing this alongside school, training, and growing up meant learning how to manage pressure, take responsibility, and keep going even during the most difficult moments. Losing my dad was a turning point in my life, one that changed my perspective and continues to shape who I am today.
Throughout all of this, I remained actively involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities that supported my development. I was part of Girl Guiding, took part in sailing through Scaling Dam Sailing Academy and RYA Youth and Junior programmes, trained in gymnastics at Darlington Gymnastics Club, and took part in horse riding at Miniature World. I was also involved in the Army Cadet Force, where I developed discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills. Alongside this, I began my performance training through Stagecoach and Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA) in Darlington, where my passion for the performing arts began to grow.
I have also been committed to volunteering and giving back, supporting charity events to raise awareness and funds for organizations including St Teresa’s Hospice, NCS, Cancer UK, and Dementia UK. These experiences helped me understand the importance of community, empathy, and using my voice to support others.
As I moved forward, I began to build professional experience alongside my training. I have worked as a scare actor at Scream Factory, as a Christmas performer at Dobbies Stockton, Washington Galleries, and Dream Maze, and as a Student Ambassador and Enrolments Assistant at Darlington College. I also had the opportunity to take part in the Walt Disney World Cultural Exchange Program in Florida, working within EPCOT Custodial, where I developed professionalism, teamwork, and strong guest interaction skills. I am now part of the cast of Kynren, contributing to a large-scale live performance production.
Every part of my journey — from early challenges, to education, to responsibilities at home, to extracurricular and professional experience — has shaped me into the performer I am becoming. It has developed my resilience, adaptability, and ability to connect with people and stories on a deeper level.
I do not separate my experiences from my work. I bring them into my performance, using them to inform my character work, strengthen my emotional connection, and approach every opportunity with honesty, commitment, and authenticity.
My journey has not been easy, but it has given me a perspective and strength that continues to drive me forward, both as a performer and as an individual.
